In this article, you'll learn how to easily create a Facebook Pinned Post on your profile that will allow you to passively generate leads and sales for your business.

This feature on Facebook is very easy to set up and will save you lots of time in promoting your home business.

You can create a pinned post on your profile, page and in your own Facebook group; today, I'll focus on setting up a Facebook pinned post on your personal profile.

What is a Facebook Pinned Post?

A pinned post is a published post on your Facebook profile that you've set to be “pinned” to the top of the page.

In this way, this is the first post any new visitor will see on your profile.

You can take any published post and turn it into a pinned post, simply by clicking on the 3 dots on the right side of your post.

The first option in the dropdown menu is Pin To Top.

Click that and your post will be pinned to the top of your profile.

Note that you can only have one pinned post at a time.

When you pin another post to the top of your profile, the existing pinned post gets “unpinned”.

Why Is The Facebook Pinned Post Important?

You don't have to use the pinned post option on Facebook.  It's totally optional.

But you would be wasting a perfect opportunity to control what a new visitor sees when they first visit your profile.

Let's face it…

First impressions are everything, especially on social media.

The first impression someone gets when they come to your Facebook profile can be long-lasting and, if you're not careful, can work against you.

Using the Pinned Post feature on Facebook is a great way for you to position yourself and direct someone where you want them to go (by including a link).

What Can You Use For A Facebook Pinned Post?

There's no “best way” to utilize the Pinned Post feature.

A lot can depend on what's currently happening in your business.

For example, if your company is having a special promotion, you may want to use the Pinned Post to draw attention to the offer.

If you or your company have an upcoming webinar or presentation that you want people to attend, creating a Pinned Post to get more registrations makes perfect sense.

But in general, I prefer to use the Facebook Pinned Post feature to generate leads and build my email list.

How To Create An Optimized Facebook Pinned Post For Lead Generation

When creating an optimized pinned post specifically to generate leads and build your email list, there are 6 important components:

1.– Picture or Graphic

Facebook posts in general are all about grabbing the attention of the scroller, and there's no better way to do that than a great picture or graphic.

Words tend to blend in.  Pictures and graphics stand out.

And as usual with Facebook, the more personal, the better.

The less it looks like a business post, the better.

Here's an example using my current Facebook Pinned Post.

2.– The Hook

Just as a picture or graphic will catch your reader's attention, so will the first sentence or two of your Pinned Post.

Copywriters call this “The Hook”.

The purpose of the hook is to “hook” your reader into continuing to read the post.

It can be in the form of a question or a provocative statement.

In addition, the hook should be strategic in that it sets up your problem, solution, and Call-To-Action (mentioned below).

Here is an example of a Hook I've used in my current Facebook Pinned Post:

3.– Get Personal

You'll notice in the above picture that right after the “hook”, I get personal telling the reader some things that only my friends know about me.

This is done intentionally.

Facebook is a social platform.

People are not generally on Facebook for business.

And since most sales can be attributed to the Know-Like-Trust factor, it's important for your reader to feel like they know you (at least a little).

Using a format like “6 Fun Facts Only My Close Friends Know About Me” gives your new Facebook friend an insider personal look at the real “you”.

It's a very effective way to start the process of “Know, Like, & Trust”.

4. — Pivot To Business – The Problem

After the personal part of the Facebook Pinned Post, it's time to revert back to business.

Here, it's good to get to the heart of the Problem that you can solve.

In my example, I talk about how most marketers don't understand what to focus on in their business, which is especially troublesome if you don't have a lot of time.

Get to the problem quickly and succinctly, and follow that with your Solution.

5.– Your Solution

This is where the rubber meets the road.

Once you've stated the problem that needs correcting, it's time to present Your Solution.

Again, make it short and to the point.

In my example, the solution to the “lack of focus” problem is my Stupid Simple Daily Action Guide (get it here).

6.– Call To Action

In general, Facebook will penalize you for outbound links.

They don't want people going off of Facebook, so they will show your post less often if you include an external link.

But the advantage of the Facebook Pinned Post is that it's always “at the top” of your profile, even if you include an external link.

Use this to your advantage, and include a link to your giveaway, product, or service.

If they've taken the time to read your entire post, the potential “lead” should be of high quality.

Your Turn

Now it's your turn.

Have you created a Pinned Post for your Facebook profile?

If not, use the outline above to help you create one today.

And if you already have a pinned post, is it giving your new Facebook Profile viewer a great first impression of you?

Does it help your new “friend” get to know you better?

Does it tell people how you help people?

Does it provide a solution to a potential problem they make be having?

There are all features of an optimized Facebook Pinned Post that can be the foundation of an optimized Facebook Profile.
