Here’s the hard truth:

You can be the most trustworthy, consistent, and genuine person in the world—and still not be credible in your market.

That’s because trust and credibility are not the same thing.

Trust vs. Credibility

Trust is personal.

It’s about your character.

People trust you when you do what you say you’re going to do, when you show up with integrity, and when you genuinely care about helping others.

Credibility, on the other hand, is about perceived competence.

It’s the belief that you (or your product) can help someone get what they want.

You can be trustworthy and still not credible.

You can even be credible and not trustworthy (but people probably won’t buy from you).

To succeed in business, you need both.

So if you're not making sales, it may not be because people don't trust you—they just don't believe you can help them.

The Big Mistake: Thinking Credibility Comes From Association

For years, I believed that if I could just align myself with the right mentors, join high-ticket coaching programs, and take selfies at events with industry leaders, people would see me as credible.

And while that might elevate how someone looks at you… it doesn’t build enough credibility to make them buy from you.

So What Does Build Credibility?

Here it is, plain and simple:

Results!

That’s the fastest, most effective path to becoming credible in the eyes of your audience. If you get a result—even a small one—and you share it authentically, people begin to believe:

“Maybe they can help me get that result too.”

What Kind of Results?

It doesn’t have to be life-changing. In fact, tiny wins can be just as powerful:

  • Your first lead from Instagram
  • Your first quality conversation with a prospect
  • Your first email reply
  • Your first $20 commission

These are real, and real wins create real belief.

The Formula:

  1. Get a Result
  2. Talk About It (in a relatable, non-egotistical way)
  3. Show Others How You Did It

That’s how you grow credibility—by doing, sharing, and serving.

Build Credibility in Business Even When You Haven’t Gotten a Result Yet

Here’s the roadmap I shared in my latest YouTube training:

  1. Stop Following – Stop waiting for others to give you the answer. You already know enough to take action.
  2. Plant Your Flag – Pick a product, platform, or strategy you believe in and stick with it. Stop bouncing.
  3. Put on the Blinders – Say no to shiny objects. Focus long enough to learn, implement, and grow.
  4. Lead Yourself First – You don’t need permission to lead. Act like the person who already has results.
  5. Make Mistakes – In marketing, no one sees your “failures” but you. Mistakes mean you’re in motion.
  6. Keep Your Ego in Check – Your why must be bigger than your pride. That was a hard one for me.

You can also gain credibility faster by getting your results noticed by someone with a bigger audience.

Share your results with a mentor or course creator.

If they shout you out?

That puts gasoline on your credibility fire.

But it all starts with a result. And that starts with consistent, focused action.

Final Word

You don’t need fake screenshots or exaggerated stories to build credibility.

You need one win.

Then you talk about it.

Then you help someone else win too.

That’s how credibility grows.
