I came across a Facebook thread the other day and this guy was really upset.
He was talking about the Law of Attraction and was trying to tell everyone and anyone that would listen that it just…
DOES NOT WORK!
For some, it might seem like that. They wish and they wish and they wish… and nothing happens.
The problem might not be with the Law of Attraction.
The problem might be with the WAY the person is using it.
The Attractor Factor
This weekend I was listening to a really great CD set called The Attractor Factor , by Joe Vitale.
In it, Joe talks about how you can attract virtually ANYTHING into your life if you want to….
I mean, if you REALLY want to.
It’s an amazing process that Joe teaches. If you haven’t read the book yet, you really should.
At one point, Joe asks very simply…
What do you want?
Simple enough question.
Joe asked me to stop what I was doing and take out a pen and paper.
He wanted me to list everything that I wanted out of life, now and in the future.
Well, I gotta tell you… it took awhile!
Turns out I want a LOT of stuff!
My Partial List of Wants
Here are just some of the things I want:
- I want to be in excellent health.
- I want a net worth of at least a million dollars
- I want a second home in the Caribbean for Rosemary
- I want to be a published author
- I want security, freedom and happiness.
Pretty good list, huh?
These are certainly a worthwhile list of intentions.
Setting the Intention is NOT Enough
By making a list of what I want, I was setting an INTENTION.
I was telling the world that these things I intend to have.
I was setting the wheels in motion.
So now it’s time to sit back, relax and wait for all these desires to appear in my life by sheer attraction, right?
Setting an intention is not enough. It a great start, but it’s not enough to attract what you want.
The second step is the one where most people falter.
The second step in the process is ACTION.
One of My Favorite Quotes
I keep a sticky note by my desk, so I will see it every day when I sit down at my computer.
It simply says…
“You get what you ARE, not what you want!”
It’s SO powerful, because within this simple quote lies the answer to ALL THINGS.
It’s not enough to want something, you have to take the actions necessary to get it.
In other words, you have to LIVE YOUR WANTS.
You have to BE the Person you aspire to be.
Here are some examples:
“I want to be in excellent health”.
Great intention. After all, if you don’t have your health, not much else matters, right?
That’s the want.
Are you living the life that will give you excellent health?
Are you eating the right foods, exercising regularly, getting enough sleep?
Are you doing the things that will guide you to excellent health in your life?
Eating the foods, exercising, sleeping… these are the ACTIONS that back up your WANT or your INTENTION.
“I want a net worth of a Million Dollars (at least)!”
Another great intention, because I know that the more money I make, the more I’ll be able to give away to others in need.
What are the ACTIONS to back up this intention?
- Do I spend my money wisely and save diligently?
- Do I look for solid investments?
- Am I open to new opportunities for making additional money?
- Have I improved my skill set and made myself more valuable to others?
Again, the ACTIONS are what drives the INTENTION.
You need BOTH to make this work.

What About Affirmations?
Affirmations are great.. I use them regularly.
But don’t be fooled into thinking that you can just wish for stuff, or tell yourself that this or that WILL happen in your life…
and it will magically appear.
Some might want you to think that, but you and I know differently.
Taking the PROPER ACTIONS is what will make your Affirmations a reality.
Having the affirmation, “Every day I am better in every way” won’t mean squat if you spend your days in front of the TV eating chips and candy.
It just won’t happen.
Use affirmations and intentions, but back them up with actions that are necessary to make them a reality.
