Let’s talk about productivity.

Not the surface-level stuff like “do more in less time” or “use this magical planner.”

I’m talking about real, business-shifting productivity — the kind that creates momentum, builds consistency, and ultimately leads to results.

If you’ve ever felt like you're working hard but not getting anywhere… this post is for you.

What Does It Really Mean to Be Productive?

We throw around the word “productive” a lot.

But when you break it down, productivity isn’t just about getting things done.

It’s about getting the right things done, over and over again, in a way that moves your business forward.

In previous trainings, I’ve talked about things like time mastery, focus, distraction, impactful activities, and accountability.

All of those are important.

But there’s something deeper.

Something more foundational.

Let me tell you a quick story…

My “Enlightenment” Moment

When I started my online business back in 2010, I had no clue what I was doing.

I had big dreams, sure — but like a lot of people, I was trying to build something while juggling a full-time job.

So I did what most learners do: I dove into skills training.

I hired coaches. I bought courses. I worked when I could.

I followed the advice. And over time, I got better.

But I still wasn’t where I wanted to be.

One day I asked a coach, “What’s the secret? What am I missing?”

He laughed. And then he said:

It’s right under your nose. The secret is consistency.”

To be honest, I was a little disappointed.

I thought I already knew that.

But knowing and doing are two different things.

And what he meant was this:

If you want to truly boost your productivity, you have to get consistent — and more importantly, you have to stay consistent.

The Productivity → Momentum → Results Chain

Here’s what most people don’t realize:

Productivity isn’t the goal — momentum is.

Let that sink in.

Productivity is what happens when you’re consistent.

And consistency is what builds momentum.

And momentum is where the real magic happens — that point where things start compounding and success feels inevitable.

Let me give you a simple formula:

👉 Consistency → Productivity → Momentum → Results

If you’re struggling to get results, backtrack.

Are you building momentum?

If not, are you being consistently productive?

If not, what’s blocking your consistency?

That’s the question.

Why Is Consistency So Hard?

I recently asked this question on Facebook: “Why do YOU think consistency is so difficult?

Here’s what some smart marketers had to say:

  • Lisa Torres said it’s because consistency requires regular effort and focus — which gets derailed by distractions, unclear goals, and tasks that feel too big or slow to show results.

  • Mark Harbert said it’s a lack of vision. Without a clear destination, why stay on the path?

  • Gavin Mountford pointed to information overload and overwhelm.

  • Vanessa Duplessie said: “Life happens.”

  • Ron Henley and Jamie Gaiman both talked about how biology and ADHD can play a big role.

  • Jordan Maylea said it comes down to belief — if you don’t believe the action will lead to the result, you won’t stay consistent.

  • And my former client Constanza said something a lot of people feel: “Maybe it’s self-sabotage.”

Truth is, they’re all right.

The Real Roadblocks to Productivity

Here’s a short list of what actually stands in our way:

  • Unclear goals or vision

  • Lack of belief

  • Distractions

  • Overwhelm

  • Life getting in the way

  • Shiny objects

  • Physical or mental energy dips

  • No routine or structure

  • Too many “voices” in your head

Sound familiar?

If you're nodding along, here’s what I recommend:

👉 Don’t try to fix everything at once.
👉 Pick one or two of your biggest blocks and start there.
👉 Work on them for 30 days.

You’ll be amazed at what shifts when you simplify your focus.

100x your productivity

7 Ways to 100x Your Productivity (The Right Way)

Here are seven actionable tips to help you break through inconsistency and finally build momentum:

1. Clarify Your Vision and Goals

You can’t hit a target you can’t see. Define:

  • Your 5-year vision

  • Your 1-year milestone

  • Your monthly/daily goals

Break those down into Most Impactful Activities (MIAs) you can do each day.

2. Create Routines that Become Habits

Business time should be sacred. Set a recurring time block — even if it’s just 30 minutes a day — and protect it.

Routines lead to habits.

Habits lead to consistency.

3. Minimize Distractions Before They Happen

Plan for your distractions — don’t be surprised by them.

Turn off notifications, set boundaries, and let your family know when you’re “off-limits.”

4. Manage Energy, Not Just Time

Listen to your body.

Are you more focused in the morning?

Do you crash after lunch?

Productivity is about energy management as much as time blocking.

5. Watch Out for Overwhelm and Shiny Objects

Build belief in what you’re doing, so you don’t get pulled away every time a new strategy pops up.

Reduce input and stick with one voice per category (one trainer for content, one for email, etc.).

6. Adapt When Life Happens

You’re human.

Life will throw curveballs.

Be ready to pivot — don’t just give up and say, “I’ll try again tomorrow.”

Make a backup plan.

Fit your business in somewhere.

7. Build a Growth Mindset and Celebrate Wins

Mistakes are part of the journey.

Small wins matter.

Track them.

Celebrate them.

Stack them.

It’s how you rewire your brain for consistency and confidence.

Final Thoughts: Your Next Step

If you’ve been struggling to stay consistent, ask yourself:

“What’s the real reason I’m not consistent?”

Then choose one blocker.

Work on it for the next 30 days. Journal your progress.

Notice your energy, your habits, and your focus.

You don’t need to fix everything overnight.

You just need to start building momentum.

Because momentum leads to results. And it all begins with consistency.
