climb imageYesterday was Day 1 of my 30 Days of Email Madness event.  Over the next 30 days, I will be “bringing it”, as the saying goes.

Lead generation, lead conversion, list building, leadership, posturing, positioning, persuasion techniques and, of course mindset will be the main courses for people on my list in the next 30 days.

If you're not on my list and you want to be part of this, simply send a blank email to bobclarke@aweber.com and you'll won't miss out.

This is one of the few email messages that I will post on social media and here on  my blog.  The rest of the teachings will be limited to those on my list.

Today's lesson starts at the beginning… mindset and the idea that Success is a Process.

Enjoy.

~~~~~~~~~
As I thought about where to start this event, my head was  swimming with ideas.
Do I start with my best lead generation strategies, my income  producing strategies, my list building strategies, or what?
I couldn't sleep last night thinking about it.
Like I often do, before I finally went to sleep, I asked for help in bringing clarity to my problem and when I woke up, there it was… the obvious answer.
Obviously you start…. at the beginning.
And the beginning for me…. the thing I had to get right before anything else…. was MINDSET.
Sure, you're thinking right now… not again!
Mindset!  I've heard all I need to hear about that stuff.
You might be thinking… Mindset won't make me money!
And you'd be wrong…. dead wrong.
Because it's not until your head is straight and your heart is in the right place that you'll flourish in your business.
Really.  I'm not kidding.
So over the next few days, we'll be talking about belief, passion, honesty and everything that I had to fix about my J-O-B mentality that held me back…..
FOR YEARS!
No kidding.
It will be fun.  I hope you have a few “aha” moments from the things I share,
Before I close, let me tell you what, for me, was one of the biggest mindset lessons I had to learn.
You may already know this… or maybe you think you do.
But alone at night, when things are going bad and results are slow, you may doubt it.
You may start listening to the voice inside your head, saying…
“You'll never be able to do this.  Quit now before it's too late”.
If you hear this voice, as most of us do, it's because you've failed to understand this key mindset shift:
“Success is a Process”
The people you hear about who are ultra successful in your primary business are successful because they earned it.
They paid their dues, made their mistakes, kept going when most others quit.
THAT'S WHY they're on that stage getting an award.  That's why they're among the top income earners.
It didn't just happened.  It's a process.  And the truth is this —
They're probably not any smarter than you.
They may work smarter, which we'll cover in a few days, but I doubt they have a higher IQ than the rest of us.
Nope, the truth is… they stayed in the game long enough to see the fruits of their labor.
They stayed in the game long enough to win.
Okay, if you're still with me, I am pleased.  And honored.
And I want to give you this parting bit of wisdom from the late, great Jim Rohn (if you don't know about him, you should).
Jim said it all when he so eloquently taught…
Becoming a millionaire isn't nearly as important as the PERSON YOU BECOME IN THE PROCESS.”
Think about that.
Success is a process… enjoy it.  Enjoy the climb to the top. Because when you finally realize the success you crave, you'll
be a whole different person than you are right now.
Stay in the game.
  • When you want to quit, don't.
  • When obstacles are thrown in your path, move around them.
  • When the results just aren't coming, dig in and learn why.
  • When your marketing campaign flops, look for what you learned in the process.
Our daughter is a huge Miley Cyrus fan… and yesterday she sent me a link to a song called The Climb.
And after listening to this song, I came away with the thought that Miley Cyrus would make a very successful Network Marketer.
Why?  Because in this song, the message comes through loud and clear that anything worth doing takes work, determination, and sacrifice…. and success is a process.
There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna want to make it move.
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose.
Ain't about how fast I get there.
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side….
it's a climb!
Success is a climb.  It takes time.
There will be bumps along the way.  Keep going.
Keep moving.  Baby steps, giant steps…. doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter how fast you get there… but that you keep going.
Make a vow to yourself that you'll stay in the game long enough to find the success you seek.
It will happen for you!  I have no doubt.
      Just what I needed to hear today Bob. I am working towards building a large base of retail customers and it is not going as fast as I would like. I have resolved to simply keep trucking forward. I have a plan in place and I am going to keep doing the basics until my objective is achieved.
      I have signed up for your emails and look forward to the information.
      Great post! I do believe it’s not just about asking, but knowing when and what to ask. Right? I really enjoyed reading this post!
      Thanks for sharing!
      That was very inspiring, Bob! It’s just the kind of thing I need on days when it feels like I’m walking uphill with my shoelaces tied together!
      I’ve been writing about success lately, too, and we have one thing in common: we are both big believers in the ATTITUDE. one of the hardest things to deal with is people who are always negative – they can’t/shouldn’t/won’t be able to/don’t know how… of course if you think like that, you are going to be right. You must keep moving and expect that you will get somewhere when you do.
      Obstacles are only obstacles if you let them stop you. Otherwise they’re just opportunities to learn to trip and fall (and get back up of course!)
      Thanks for sharing your words of wisdom!
      Hi Bob,
      Great post.
      Your message reminds me of my latest post, and one of my hardest struggles for years. I have been working at a public university for the past 10 years (and at another public university before that), and the transition to becoming a business owner has really been an exciting adventure.
      My business is only 40 days old, but I have learned so much, and what I have learned most about is myself and the mindset. I have been reading a lot in books by Anthony Robbins in order to help me change focus and become more confident. But I had no idea that the world outside the University was like this 🙂
      Hi; well, my first comment is that you always bring it. And I think they teach a class in network marketing at disney. smile It is about staying positive and continuing to work and learn each day. and luckily for me I have a few really good friends who are always reminding me how special i am and how i will eventually overcome the knockers and the neyseyers. I subscribed right away because I would hate to miss anything. take care, max
      Hi Bob,
      Very, very good post. Asking for the right answer before going to sleep does work, doesn’t it?
      Of course, mindset is EVERYTHING. As a matter or fact, without the right mindset there is nothing one can really achieve. And I would even go further by saying that no one should waste their time and money joining money making ventures without having FIRST work on their mind and attitude.
      Thanks for this Bob 🙂
      I bet that’s going to be a great series Bob and your list is in for a real treat.
      Mindset is definitely the first thing everyone has to work on because you’ll hit so many walls it’s not even funny. Even the smartest people in the world will have obstacles they’ll have to get over so how you handle things and how you think about them is what’s going to get you through.
      I’m one of the most positive people and this industry took me by surprise. I doubted myself a lot because a lot of this was foreign to me. Learn more about yourself and how to handle things when they’re thrown at you and it will be the best decision you ever made.
      Looking forward to what you’ll be sharing next Bob.
      Bob,
      Right on the money…mindset is KEY! Like you said we’ve all heard this a million times but it’s so true. I was on a call last night where the speaker shared a powerful turning point in his business. The biggest one was where he “moved in certainty” He started to do everything in his business with a new level of clarity instead of coming from a place of hope or maybe.
      I love the idea and passion around your 30 day process and will be watching it unfold. I know you will probably hits goals and marks that you had not intended to. This is due to your serving leadership. I’m looking forward to reading the next episode!
