holdingchildshand.trustIf  you want to know how to build trust with your leads and prospects, this post will be a great start.

One of the most commonly used catch-phrases about selling is…

“People buy from those they KNOW, LIKE and TRUST!”

Of the 3, the hardest nut to crack is TRUST.  In today's world, especially on the Internet with the word “Scam” thrown around so readily, it's become really hard to build trust online.

People are naturally skeptical when it comes to buying anything online, and with good enough reasons.  There ARE scams out there.  There ARE people who are looking to take advantage of you for their own benefits.  It's out there and everyone knows it.

So then the question remains…

How to Build Trust With Your Leads and Prospects?

People seem to trust me.  I've been told that by more than a few friends, prospects, and subsequent team members.

They tell me it's “something about me”.  They think maybe it's my demeanor or my good looks “-)

But actually, I've EARNED that trust by following 7 basic principles…

I'll give you the first 3 tips for building trust in the video below:

Powerful stuff, right?

Here are 4 more tips to build trust with your audience, list, leads and potential customers…

4.  Be REAL

Whether you're cutting a video, writing in your blog or communicating with your list, BE REAL.

Allow people to get to know the real you.  Don't try to be someone you're not because you think others will approve or be attracted to it.  That stuff always works against you in long run.

It's far more attractive to be real, admit mistakes, and get a little personal (as much as you're comfortable with).

If you really want to fast-track this, use VIDEO.

I know of no better medium for gaining trust in someone.  They hear you.  They see your gestures and facial expressions. And they come to feel like they know you.

5. Show Up

Show up!  Consistently show up in someone's inbox, Facebook newsfeed, video channel, or wherever else you market.  There are so many examples of people who started out HARD in their business but faded away after a while.  Don't be that person.

The more consistently you show up the more trust you'll build that you're in business for the long haul and aren't going anywhere.

6. Tell Stories

The more you can engage someone and educate/entertain them with stories, the more trust you'll build with others.  Stories are a great way to make a connection, especially personal stories where you've struggled and broken through.  This gives people hope and naturally makes you attractive.

Don't worry if you don't have any triumphant stories yet.  Tell stories of others in your company who broke through a particular obstacle.

Stories are inspiring!  Just make sure the stories you tell are true and not sensationalized in an attempt to get people to buy something.

They'll see right through this and it will derail your attempt of building trust.

7.  Be Helpful With No Strings Attached

The other day, someone new to my list asked if I could help him with marketing his new T-shirt company.  He was brand new to the online world and needed some guidance.images-3

While I could have sent him over to one of the platforms I use to teach others how to market pretty much anything online, I chose to go another route.

You see, I know a fellow marketer who SPECIALIZES in selling T-shirts online and showing others how to do the same.

So I contacted my buddy and connected them.  My new lead was SO happy, he thanked me profusely.

Did I make any money by recommending this other marketer to my new lead?

Nope.

But I sure did build trust for some time down the road!

BONUS TIP For Building Trust

I thought I'd give you one more tip before you go out and start building trust with your leads…

8.  OVERDELIVER

Always over-deliver on what you promise.  There's nothing I know of that builds trust faster than giving MORE than expected.

Do what 95% of other marketers won't do… be genuine in your help and offer more than is expected!

See what I just did?  I told you earlier that I would give you 7 tips for building trust and making more money online.

Instead, I gave you 8.  Totally over delivered on my promise!  🙂

Going Forward…

Remember this…

The more TRUST you build with others, the more money you'll make in your business (assuming you've got a great offer, of course).

Now go out there and make it happen!
