images-10What's so urgent?
YOU…. hopefully!
It's one of the most important traits a successful marketer must have…
Yet it's one that many Part Time Marketers lack–
A sense of URGENCY in their business.

This is especially a problem with Part Timers who have a traditional job like me, where there's regular income  coming in.

Maybe not as much as we want, but enough to pay the bills and allow us to live comfortably.

So why is this a problem?

Because it's too EASY to put things off until tomorrow.

And the next day, and the next until…

A month, 3 months, 6 months have gone by and you  see no results in your business.

Interestingly, I've found this is also an issue with some  full timer marketers, who maybe have a spouse who brings home a paycheck or have some other source of income.

When you're not under the gun tmake your business work or you don't eat, urgency can be lacking.

So how do you fix it?

I don't have a magic formula, other than to make a game of it and try to trick your mind.

What helped for me was to set daily goals, sharing it with others who I run with in my business and then sticking to these daily outcome goals NO MATTER WHAT.

As in…
  • I won't go to sleep until I've met 10 new people.
  • I won't go to sleep before I've generated 5 leads.
  • I won't go to sleep before I created at least one piece of content.
This is what I've done for the last 45 days and the results have been amazing.

And it all started with a DECISION.

To put URGENCY into my business and act as though the livelihood of my family depended on me completing my daily goals.

It's worked for me.

I see no reason it won't work for you if you see this as an obstacle to success in your business.

To your success!

    • […] Create your own urgency if necessary.  One of the problems with having a job while growing a business on-the-side is a lack of urgency.  Because your job pays the bills and maybe even helps you fund your marketing, you don’t have that “back-against-the-wall mentality that some full time marketers face.  If that’s true for you, then you must create your own urgency.  Here’s some ways to do that. Hey guys,
Nice post, yes, it’s amazing how much urgency you need to get things moving. Especially trying to do it part time is quite a big ask!

      Hey Bob,

Well, that’s usually the problem for those who are only part-timers on their blog and has a normal regular job to support there daily needs. Sometimes they tend to forget everything about there blogs or there time are all consumed with the normal day-to-day work they have. Part-timers should always have a sense of urgency to get them going. Because without it, everything will just go into waste.

Keeping things in pending and saving them for a later date only increase time lags and unwanted delays. For any business to be progressive it needs to follow timeliness and strict deadlines. Thanks for the interesting share.

Great article. I needed to hear that this week.

A 2 day weekend has turned into 7 days of not hitting a few goals of mine.
