It’s a problem that all Internet Marketers experience: Information Overload.  Every day there’s something “new” or “urgent” pulling our attention away from our main goal:  Growing our business.  One major time-sucking culprit is email, and taming your email inbox has become a necessity in getting things done each day.

Maximize Your Online Productivity

Marketing on the Internet has become a crowded arena, and it’s essential that you use each minute wisely to maximize your productivity.  While email has made it super-simple to keep in touch with colleagues or JV partners, it’s also opened the floodgates to all kinds of unimportant email that get past our spam filters — newsletters, free reports, and the next best income opportunity.  For many, email has become an unmanageable time sucker.

6 Strategies for Taming Your Email Inbox

.

1.  Limit Your Exposure

I used to check my email constantly, in fear that I might miss something really important.  In the process, I wasted a good part of my day in this unproductive activity.  I’ve found that it’s best to set a limit on the time you’ll spend reading email and stick to it.  No exceptions.  Once or twice per day is more than enough time to check emails.  There’s very little that can’t “wait ‘til morning.”

2.  Set Up Multiple Email Accounts

While this may seem counterintuitive, hear me out.   I really started streamlining my email access when I opened up a second and third Gmail account for my business.

I restrict my contacts in my primary account to only those that have a direct impact on my business:  Lead and sale notifications, mentors, and potential JV partners. This account is most important for my business bottom-line; as a result, I check these emails most often, once in the morning and once in the evening.

I use my 2nd email account for things like newsletters or blogs to which I subscribed, news from product vendors and other company business.  I check these emails once every few days.

The third email account is for “junk emails”, such as those you receive when you sign up for Free Classifieds or List Builders.  These are emails I rarely if every read, but by opening a separate Gmail account I am able to keep my primary inbox clean.

3.  Set Up Folders to Organize Your Messages

We all receive emails that don’t require immediate action, but want to save for future reference.  In these cases, it’s essential to create Folders.  In Gmail, you can set up an unlimited number of Folders, listed alphabetically on the sidebar next to your inbox.  Once click on the Folder and you have immediate access to your saved messages.  Yet, your inbox remains organized and uncluttered with messages that serve you no immediate purpose.

4.  Utilize Your Email Filters and Archive Features

Most email providers offer some kind of filtering mechanism for keeping emails organized.  In Gmail, you can apply filters to incoming messages that will label your email according to your instructions.  Even more useful, you can automatically have an incoming email moved to an appropriate folder for later reading, keeping your inbox clean.

5.  Segment Your Email

Gmail has recently rolled out a system for prioritizing your email, called Priority Inbox.  Google actually tracks your email habits, which emails you open most often and begins to prioritize these emails as “important”.  As more email messages come in, you can tell Google when something is inappropriately labeled and Google will “learn” your preferences.

In this way, your Priority Inbox will ultimately reflect your most important and useful messages.  Although it’s still in testing mode, Priority Inbox bears watching as another useful feature of Google Mail.

6.  Housecleaning

Email numbers pile up over time; a subscription here, an inquiry there.  All of a sudden, your once organized email inbox becomes, once again, unmanageable.  What can you do?

Once every month or so, I do a complete “housecleaning” of my account inboxes.

I go through the email I receive with a sharp-edged knife, and I “cut out” (i.e. unsubscribe) from any emails that are no longer serving a positive experience in my life.  Be ruthless in this effort and you can do wonders in limiting the amount of useless email you receive.

By using these strategies for taming your email inbox, you can potentially add hours to each day, just by eliminating the necessity for going through useless and unproductive emails.  Instead, this time can be used on Income Producing Activities for your business, and greatly improve your bottom-line.

Target Marketing — putting your product or opportunity in front of the right audience — is a key to success in selling. After all, if the people who are seeing your advertisements have no use or no interest in your product, it all adds up to one GIANT waste of money.

Target Marketing 101 Lesson One:

despicable meNever show previews of “The Last Exorcist” to a young crowd watching “Despicable Me.” Sounds logical, but you’d be surprised how many internet and network marketers out there get this all wrong.

Next time you go to the movies, be sure to get there a little early and check out the Previews of upcoming movies. Keep in mind the movie you’ve come to see, and make a note of what previews the owners of the theater show you. If they’re any good (and most are VERY good), you’ll find that previews of the best upcoming kids movies are shown to audiences there to watch similar movies.

Here’s another example of Target Marketing 101 in real life.

Next time you buy something from Amazon.com, check out what happens as you add something to your Shopping Cart. The smart guys and gals at Amazon proceed to hit you with this:

People who bought _________________ also buy ____________________.”

I mean, how smart is that?

If you’re like me, I always check out what other related books others buy at Amazon, because I don’t want to be left out.

“If these people are buying it, maybe I should, too” — is the conversation going on in my brain…. and it’s a conversation that is being directed by the marketers at Amazon.

Brilliant.

So next time you decide to place a banner ad or target a PPC campaign, ask yourself this –

Is the person who is likely to see this going to WANT what I am offering?

If the answer is anything but a resounding YES, than you’ll want to go back to the drawing board and re-think your marketing plan.

For people who are struggling in MLM and looking to make more Network Marketing sales, there is usually one common question:

WHY are people not buying from me?”

more salesI do a lot of coaching struggling MLM professionals and almost all of them are making this same mistake — they are focusing on the sale, focusing on the numbers, and forgetting the real reason that people buy from you — TRUST.

Sales is about building relationships.

It’s not about scripts.  It’s not about remembering to tell your prospects every single benefit of your prospect.

In fact, it’s really not about the prospect at all.  It all boils down to TRUST, and whether or not your prospect feels that you are trustworthy.

So how do you build that trust?

It’s a process, but here is the best way to start:

When you contact that person for the first time,  don’t pitch them, don’t explain why your prospect is the next best thing since sliced bread.. that will come later.  But first and foremost….

ASK and LISTEN.

Ask your prospect WHY they are looking to make more money, why they want to start a business, and why they filled in their contact information on your site.  Allow them to talk about themselves, and you’ve taken your first step towards trust.

Why?  Because most people in this industry want to skip all the way from email lead to sale, all in one step.  They aren’t patient enough to actually LISTEN to why that person is looking at your business and what they want to get out of it.  And, of course you need to have the integrity and leadership to help them decide NOT to join you… if it truly is not right for them.

*********************

Build Trust.

Build the Relationship.

Ask for your PROSPECT’S WHY

And for goodness sake, LISTEN!

***********************

People don’t buy what you sell… they buy WHY you sell it.  And if you are in your business to actually help others, to empower others to live a better life… if you’ve pushed past sales and into Leadership, you will draw people to you like bees to honey.

The vast majority of network marketing business owners have NO idea WHY they are doing what they’re doing.  You can be different.

You can empower people by listening to them.  You can be the LEADER that others want to follow.

DARE TO BE DIFFERENT!

Today I am going to share with you a lesson in delivering value to your customers.  It’s a message that all of us in the sales and marketing arena need to heed.  It’s quite possibly the key to success in our industry.

Delivering Value To Your CustomerHave you ever seen those Back Massage stations at your local mall?  I don’t usually pay much attention to them, but the other day I was feeling rather tense and, as I waited for Rosemary to finish her shopping, I decided…. “What the heck?”

The sign said, “$10 for 10 minutes.” How can you go wrong with that, right?

As I sat in the chair, not expecting the greatest massage in the world (heck, it was in a mall!), I was pleasantly surprised when the woman providing the massage asked me where I needed her to concentrate her efforts.  I explained that my neck and shoulders were feeling really tense and sore.

She started the timer and began the massage.

Based on the feedback I provided, the masseuse proceeded to give me one of the best neck and shoulder massages I’ve ever received. I mean…

IT WAS INCREDIBLE!

She seemed to know exactly how much pressure to use, which muscles to work on, and when to move on.

After 10 minutes, I was again feeling tense, but now it was because my massage was almost over.  As the timer went off, the masseuse told me that she could continue another 10 minutes for another $10 if I wished.

No problem, keep going!  This woman was solving my problem, and I was loving her solution!

Another 10 minutes went by and she continued to melt away my tension and muscle soreness with her skillful touch.  Again the timer went off.

Again, I told her to continue another 10 minutes…..

This went on for an hour — 60 minutes — and I gladly forked over my $60 for her effort, plus an extra $20 for providing such excellent service.

She was happy, I was happy, everybody wins.

So what’s the lesson here?

I’ve had massages before, and most therapists never bothered to ask what I needed, but went ahead and provided their standard massage.

This massage therapist, in her little cubicle in the middle of a busy NJ mall took the time to find out what my problems were… and then provided a solution.

Her skill level was obvious (skills are always a major part of service), but it was her enthusiasm and her genuine desire to please me and make me feel better that sold me.  I felt that she truly cared about me.

That’s what we should all strive for with all of our prospects.

  • Find out what your prospects need…  do they need what you have to offer?
  • If  they do, then deliver… deliver incredible value to your customers so that they’ll come away feeling like winners
  • Go the extra mile, give them what they need… give them MORE than what they need, and you will have a customer for life.

Until next time,

Success is something we all crave but attaining it can be difficult, frustrating and discouraging. If you really want to attract success, you need to develop the right tools to achieve your goals.

Everyone has a different idea of success. For some, personal fulfillment is their key objective, and they desire a romantic relationship or happy family life. Others have professional ambitions and yearn to succeed in their chosen career. Whatever you wish for, it is vital that you identify your goal and make it a major focus of your life.

The Starting Point

Having a clear idea about your aim is an important starting point. Not everyone is lucky enough to know their real purpose in life, but it is worth giving it some attention. Consider your strengths and special gifts and how you can use them to bring you greater fulfillment. Think about your personality and the situations where you feel most comfortable. If, for example, you have an outgoing nature and you have a desk job with little interpersonal contact, you may want to find another occupation in which you deal with the public.

Put it in Writing

When you have established your goal, it is a good idea to put it in writing and keep it on hand. You may even want to display it somewhere visible like your fridge or bedroom wall. Think of it as a contract with yourself with a set time limit by which it must be completed.

Make A Plan

The next step is to make a plan for reaching your goal. It helps to break it into several mini goals as it makes the project seem more manageable and less overwhelming. For example, if you want to change your job, your plan could include undertaking a training course, updating your CV and listing with employment agencies.

Get To Work

Once your plan has been created, you can get on track and start working towards your goal. At this stage, keeping your motivation levels high is crucial to your eventual success. You need to stay positive even when it it seems that giving up is the easiest option. To do this, eliminate any negative self-talk and focus on your strengths and achievements. If you need inspiration, look for books on healthy thinking, or try prayer, meditation or yoga.

Support, Support

It is also very important that the people around you understand and support what you are doing. Try to reduce contact with anyone who casts doubt and look for help from those who believe in you.

Your Just Rewards

Lastly, keep your motivation high by rewarding yourself, not only at the end but also along the way. Find small, inexpensive treats which will boost your morale and give you something to aim for. A new book, CD, item of clothing or dinner at your favourite restaurant can all help lift your spirits and help keep your eyes on your destination.

Attracting success into your life is less difficult than you may think. Follow these simple steps and you will be well on your way to having the life you really want.
